BlockIt

A couple of years ago I was in the checkout line at the store when the man in front of me pulled out his wallet to pay. He took a shiny foil rectangle out of his wallet and unwrapped it to reveal a credit card inside. He proudly explained that the foil was protecting his cards from people who wanted to steal his information. The cashier and I exchanged a knowing look – obviously this guy was crazy. Except it turns out that he wasn’t. Credit card skimming is a very real problem, and the thief only needs to pass within a couple of feet of you to digitally pick your pocket and get your credit card number and expiration date. So what is the solution? Well, to tell you the truth, the tin foil does work. But there is a much more practical, attractive, and less crazy-looking option: Blockit RFID Blocking Sleeves.

Blockit RFID Blocking Sleeves come in several fun designs, and you can choose from top-loading or side-loading models. They fit your credit or debit card perfectly, and then slide perfectly into any of the slots in your wallet or purse. Most importantly, though, the sleeves block the RFID chip in your card from being scanned. How does this work?

The RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) chip in your card is supposed to make your using your card more convenient, because you don’t have to swipe it. The RFID chip communicates with the vendor’s device to give all of the necessary information to complete the purchase. This convenience comes at a price, though. The RFID chip can be “skimmed” by someone using an inexpensive scanner, and they only need to walk by you to do it. They can then take your credit card information and create a new card if they want. The Blockit RFID Blocking Sleeves prevent this from happening by blocking the radio signal from the RFID chip. This also works to block someone from skimming the RFID chip on your driver’s license, for states that have that technology.

We don’t need another potential security breach to worry about; if you have an RFID chip in your credit or debit card, you should invest in the Blockit RFID Blocking Sleeves. They are sturdy, practical, and attractive. They fit neatly into your wallet or purse slots, and they don’t create unnecessary bulk. Most importantly, they protect your vital information from would-be thieves. Check them out now, and pick your favorites.
